Background Fabrics- cut 16 strips 2 1/2" x 18 1/2"
Accent Fabrics- cut 16 strips 1 1/2" x 18 1/2"
Sew one background strip to each accent strip lengthwise. Press toward the darker strip (either away from or toward the background fabric as done in the previous steps)
Cross Cutting Instructions:
Layer the strips sets (offsetting them as shown so the seams do not create bulk) and trim the ends even. Cut the strip sets into three 6 " lengths as shown below. Notice that the seam is lined up straight along the marked line on the ruler. This will help prevent slanting or shifting.
Once the 6" units are cut, move the ruler to the 4 1/2" mark and make another cut.
Next, move the ruler to the 3" mark and make another cut. Repeat at the 1 1/2" mark. Repeat with each six inch section until all of the strips sets are cut into 1 1/2" units. By cutting this way, your strip units will remain precise and accurate.
You will need to make 192 units that measure 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". These can be all different accent colors, or just one color. I made some strip sets with red, some with aqua, and some with brown. The scrappier the better!
Enjoy every stitch!
PS. I do not have a PDF download available of this clue, but I will put together the entire set of clues and make a downloadable pattern with the final reveal. Thanks for your patience.
