29 Patchwork Placemats
for Meals on Wheels. That's exactly how many a few women were able to make yesterday afternoon at our "Sewcial Bee" as we like to call it. My local guild gets together to stitch every fourth Tuesday. Often we just work on our own projects, or have a workshop to learn a new technique. We've also done other projects like Quilts of Valor, and community quilts.
Yesterday we were making placemats for the sweet folks who get Meals on Wheels. We've done this in the past and some of the thank you notes would make you cry! I know a quilted placemat is not everyone's idea of thrilling, but for those that do enjoy them...it's so worth the effort!
I will be collecting more throughout August and deliver them in September to the Senior Center for distribution. I promised Randy that when I won her bundle of fabrics a few months ago, that they would get put to good use. She may recognize quite a few in the photo.
I was cutting kits, and handing them out to be sewn, others were pressing, others were packing kits to take home and finish. We had so much fun working together, I sure hope these bring a smile to some sweet faces.
