Yesterday

was my birthday. It was a lovely day filled with friends, family, good food, fun and a nap! Doesn't get much better than that!! I did get a little stitching done as well. I've started getting the rows together on my Farmer's
Pilot's Wife quilt.

I turned 46. I'm okay with that. It feels a bit like I'm on the downhill slide to 50, but I am also okay with that. 45 was an exciting year in many ways. I started my own little business and watched it take off! I sent my baby girl to high school and my boys to their last year of middle school. I got lots of quilting done!

And in some ways 45 was tough. I survived my husband's transition (and training) to yet another aircraft courtesy of Delta. I lost my dad so unexpectedly, and that's still difficult. I learned some hard lessons.

But mostly, I was surrounded by people who love me and proved they are willing to encourage me on both the good days and the bad. That's really more than I could ever hope for. So bring on 46, I can't wait to see what will happen!

  1. Happy Birthday! I will be 47 in October, so I hear ya about the "feels a bit like I'm on the downhill slide to 50." I think I'm okay with it - the alternative (pushing up daisies) is less attractive...

    1. I couldn't agree more! I know that I feel healthy and happy now, and it might get harder to feel that way as the years pass, so I'm more grateful now than ever!

  2. Happy, Happy Birthday! My birthday was on the 1st so that makes us both Virgos! This decade seems to be full of lots of changes and transitions for many people. I'm just hoping to whether them all with dignity and grace, in spite on my middle age sag and approaching wrinkles.:)

    1. Thank you so much...and Happy Birthday to you as well! I couldn't agree more about the decade of changes, and I too hope to discover that my courage will outlast my challenges! I would rather not speak of sags and wrinkles, ACK! Gravity is so cruel. Having friends who understand really does help though! ;)

  3. Happy, Happy Birthday! As my husband turned 46 on the 4th, we are the same age for about 3 weeks. Outside those 3 weeks he teases me about being older, saying one of us is virtually in their late 40s while the other only in their mid 40s! Usually when people try to guess our ages, they say he is the older one!! Life is a gift, whatever our age. I hope the next year is full of health and happiness for you and your family.

    1. Thank you so much for the sweet wishes! Give Rob a birthday hug for me! I'm having fun with the quilt, even though progress is very slow! Maybe I'll get some stitching done today, maybe!
