It all started with Lori over at Humble Quilts. She made an adorable small quilt called Mountain Trails. It was really cute. So cute that I thought I should make one. But then I got the bright idea to change the strips a bit. I thought I would try and see what it would look like if they were all going the same direction. I thought it might look more like a braid than a log cabin. Turns out, I should have just followed Lori's directions, because I like hers better. But it's a little late for that now, because I made mine KING size.
And I decided to try and quilt it with feathers. I've never done feathers by machine before so why not try something new on a KING size quilt? I know, I'm nuts. It's no secret. It turns out, I LOVE quilting feathers by machine and this was the perfect quilt for them! So now I am no longer afraid of feathers! I'm actually rather experienced at them now.
And yes, I quilted this whole thing on my Janome Horizon. I love my machine and have no trouble quilting anything on it. So there you go. I have a KING size quilt, and it's all Lori's fault. *wink* Thanks Lori, I love it! (and your blog!)
Enjoy every stitch!

That's such a lovely quilt! I love the more traditional placement of the red with all the scrappiness. I am really bad about taking a good quilt idea and trying to make it bigger.:)
ReplyDeleteIt turned beautiful
ReplyDeleteI have been practicing feathers by drawing them but I can't get them right with a pen so I know I can't do it with a machine. Yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad yours came out so well.
it turned out so great and hooray for you for quilting it yourself!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt and I love it in a full size
This one looks great! Love seeing it on your bed with the pup already enjoying it.
