10 Minute Tip

This tip is from my "mommy to 3 preschoolers" days. We can play like crazy around here and there has never been a shortage of toys or stuff. So occasionally, I would announce...time for a 10 MINUTE TIDY! and it's just what it sounds like. We would all stop what we were doing and put things away. Games collect all their pieces, puzzles go in their boxes, dolls get all their clothes put away, etc. Honestly, it keeps things way more manageable doing this once or twice a day...rather than waiting until it's totally out of control.

Since I sew almost every day, I use a 10 MINUTE TIDY at least once a day in my sewing room. The rulers all get put back on the rack, fabrics get folded and put away, threads get put in their jar or drawer. You know what I mean! Sometimes this doesn't happen until I am ready to go to bed at night. But I always feel better turning off the light when I know I'm going to find a happy, clean sewing space in the morning.

Besides, if toddlers can handle a 10 MINUTE TIDY surely a grown woman can!

Enjoy every stitch!

  1. that is a very good idea - I normally do that with my spot in the living room when I am doing hand work but I don't always do that in the sewing room if I have been working in there. Although at the end of the project I do.

  2. Great idea - I'll have to give it a try since I'm notorious for huge messes in my studio. Thanks!
