Butterflies from long ago

A sweet friend gave me a collection of butterflies cut from feed sacks. They had been in her mother's sewing things but probably came from her grandmother. She thought I might like to do something with them. She was right!

I'm fusing them to muslin and using a machine blanket stitch with black thread. I've chosen a tiny dot fabric to use for their little bodies and I plan to stitch antennae in black.

I think I'm going to set them in rows and use a wide solid sashing. But that could change.

Enjoy every stitch!
