Green Tea and Sweet Beans Update

I've been working on this quilt for a while now. I am just picking it up and working on it occasionally. This week I decided to make two more blocks.

I used rick rack for the flower stem instead of paper piecing like the pattern. I also pieced a four patch for the flower petals instead of hand piecing the curved templates. What can I say, I'm lazy like that.

I am still not sure if this is the size it was supposed to be, because I chose to rotary cut and piece the blocks rather than using the templates. But I think it will work, and if I have to put a border around it, that's okay too.

Then I played around with some settings...

This is very similar to the pattern.

This is an option if I want to be almost finished.

This is what I am leaning towards. It would give me room for a few applique blocks, but still be much smaller than the original. But I will probably change my mind tomorrow. I am looking forward to adding some of the applique blocks. I think it will really add some interest. Maybe the next few blocks will help me decide where this quilt is going. I'm open to suggestions.

Have a great weekend
and enjoy every stitch!

  1. It's a really beautiful pattern, and you are off to a great start! I would definitely want to include some of the applique, it gives the eye somewhere to rest on the quilt. I love the variety!
