Vintage Quilt Spotting

( I like the interesting border and the black fan bases, I've never seen either of those before! And notice the blocks alternate between floral fan blades and large plaid blades.)

While I was waiting for my 4 prescriptions to be filled yesterday, (and feeling just a bit sorry for myself because I have a sinus infection AND tonsillitis) I treated myself to a Starbucks and a short walk around The Green Bean, a local antique mall. It has quite the assortment of old stuff. I usually spy a few good wooden bowls, some fiesta dishes, and if I'm lucky, an old quilt or two.

(this quilt has some very interesting fabrics and look at the half block at the bottom...hmm)

I spied not one but two quilts on this little visit. I saw some other cool stuff, but I was feeling kind of puny, so I didn't get any more photos. Luckily, the meds have kicked in and I feel some quilting time coming on this weekend! I hope you are healthy and find some time to quilt.

Enjoy every stitch!
Diane

  1. I'm glad you're feeling better, Diane. I hope you will be back to full strength soon! I've been seeing these fan units everywhere recently. They are a little tempting, but so far I've managed to hold the line!

  2. Ohmygosh Diane--I am still fighting off my two ear infections and bronchitis! What is it about this Summer--so many people are really sick and take so long to heal??? Old quilts are just so fascinating...you wonder if they meant to make them or ran out of fabric or what...they have an aura about them that's hard to define or replicate...hope you bounce back soon..hugs, Julierose
