Georgia Quilt Expo

(quilt by Mary Fons)

This weekend was the Georgia Quilt and Sewing Expo at the Cobb Galleria Center. I was lucky enough to attend on both Friday (with my bee group) and on Saturday as a volunteer in the guild's booth.

(quilt by Mary Fons- I think)

I loved the quilts. Stunning. Breathtaking. Amazing. Those are just a few words I would use. The competition quilts were simply works of art. The special exhibits were very interesting and inspiring as well.

There was also quite a bit of shopping available. I might have purchased this little stack of goodness. Most of it was found in the "Primitive Gatherings" booth, but I also scored some $2 fat quarters at a couple other booths.

(Jenny Doan on stage)

I even had some celebrity sightings. I saw Jenny Doan on stage doing her thing. I actually spoke to Mary Fons (she was asking a question at the info desk the same time I was) and I watched Victoria Findley Wolfe of Bumblebeans video tape an interview with the grand prize quilter. If you look closely at the 2:16 time frame, you can barely see my in the booth in the background. I wasn't photo (or video) bombing, I promise. But I was watching it all with a huge smile on my face!

I hope you had a quilt adventure or two this weekend as well!

Enjoy every stitch!

  3. Just imagine; it's just a year ago we met at the Georgia Quiltshow!! Feels a whole lot longer, with everything that's happened this year.
Still am jealous about the prices of the FQ in the US though....
