Mom's quilt is finished. I put the binding on it yesterday. I do hope she will like it. I used four blue shirts of dad's.
You can see the plaid better in the close ups.
She chose all of his shirts, so I know she'll like the fabrics. I just hope she likes what I've done with them. This time of year is difficult, as dad passed away on Dec. 17th. The holiday decorations remind me of when I first heard the news. And every cute little old man with white hair in the mall makes me think of how he could get lost before we made it to the first store. He was so good at disappearing and then magically reappearing just before it was time to leave. He was clever like that.
I've got the blocks cut for my sister's quilt. I am still not sure how it's all going to turn out, but I think it will just let me know as it goes. Your quilts speak to you too don't they?
Enjoy every stitch!
Diane
She is bound to love it! It is a wonderful quilt--I like the varying shade--holidays are difficult--I miss my Dad most at this time of year...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYes, I am certain she will love it too. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat colour binding did you use? It looks white, but I'm not sure.
It's beautiful--a true classic! I've been wanting to make a quilt from shirts and the block you chose is perfect--may be "borrowing" that idea!
ReplyDeleteVery special quilt. So sweet to give it to her during this time of the year too.:)
ReplyDeleteYour mom's quilt looks beautiful, very comforting. I'm sure your mom will like it. It's so hard loosing a loved one around a holiday. I think we miss them most at that time. Blessings to you and your mom.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure shell love it, and yes, I find my quilts always tell me what to do, especially when it comes to deciding how to quilt them. Sometimes I can be halfway through quilting one and it makes me stop and undo it all and start again with a new quilting design!
ReplyDeleteDiane, it is beautiful! It looks wonderful! What a wonderful present for your mom. I know holidays are difficult when we miss our loved ones. Hopefully this will be a big hug from you dad and you when she wraps this around herself. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! What a labor of love that mom is sure to enjoy for many years! What a lovely hug of love you created!!! Of course my quilts talk to me :)
