Fancy Fans

I volunteered to make these two fan blocks for a charity quilt that my friend Darlene is organizing. I can't even remember what good cause this is going toward, but Darlene is so sweet, I would do anything for her! They were easy to piece, but the applique was a bit of a bugger. Batiks don't naturally lend themselves to applique ... or at least someone with my skill level. But let's just blame it on the fabric, okay?

I do like the way they turned out and I'm certain it's going to be a gorgeous quilt when Darlene is done with it.

Enjoy every stitch!

  3. Those are great! And yes, batiks are hard to hand stitch, applique or hand quilting. I think it's because they are so tightly woven. The stitches don't 'disappear'.:)
