Book Review

I ordered this book last week and I am so glad I did. It is out of print, but I ordered a used copy and it is in excellent condition, even signed by the author! Thanks to my friend Linda, who had this book on the retreat we went on a few weeks ago, if she hadn't shared it with me, I never would have known about it!

I just love reading stories from the past and peeking into the lives of those who were here long before me. This book is based on one quilt, and the block that is repeated in that quilt. It includes a photo of the original quilt as well as the reproduction. It also includes close ups of each of the fabrics.  But my favorite part is the stories that are shared. The life of the quilter was fascinating and history tends to ignore most women, so I had not learned about her before. She was able to bear with many life changes and raise eight kids in the process. I doubt being married to David Crockett was ever boring!

If you like history and the history of quilts, you will really enjoy this book. I am so glad I spent a very cold day sipping tea and reading it!

Enjoy every page,
Diane

  1. How fun! I have been craving a good read, but by the time I have a moment to spare, I am ready to take a little nap! LOL...my Kindle is ready and waiting for some good attention!
