April Mini of the Month

This month's mini pattern is based on the Christmas Candy pattern. I changed the 9 patches to 4 patches and reduced all the blocks by half. I also eliminated quite a few rows. I was in the mood to make more of a table runner than a small quilt so here it is...

Freedom Four Patch (13" x 30")

Fabrics needed:
2" strips of white scraps
2" strips of red scraps
fat eight of gold fabric
fat quarter of blue fabric

Make 21 FOUR PATCHES by sewing the red and white strips together lengthwise. Press toward the red, cross cut them every two inches, then flip and sew them into four patches.

Make 16 HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES by cutting the gold and blue fabrics into 3 1/2" strips. Use the easy angle ruler to cut them into triangles and sew together. Press toward the blue.

Cut four extra blue triangles for the corner blocks. Lay out the blocks as shown.

Sew the blocks into diagonal rows. then trim the ends one quarter inch beyond the four patches...

Sew the rows together, press, layer with batting and backing. Quilt as desired and bind.

I did this in one afternoon, it is quick and easy!
Enjoy every stitch!
