Sadly my trusty old Rowenta started melting. Literally, I used it so often that the hard plastic parts near the base were drying out and crumbling off. This did not make for a good experience when trying to iron, as the little crumbles would cover my ironing board. I'm not going to complain though, it lasted many, many years. Too many to recall even. So I started reading iron reviews online, and even after comparing reviews of other brands, I came back to the Rowenta.
I chose the Pro Master for several reasons. It DOES have the automatic shut off. Unlike many quilters, I like to know it will turn off when I forget. I also don't mind that it sometimes turns off while I'm still using it because it reheats so quickly. I don't use water in my iron. Never have. I have some Best Press and a some old fashioned spray starch, as well as spray bottle of water. It works for me to use one of those products before I iron. Truly though, I rarely do. This iron gets so hot that I rarely need anything else.
I have had this iron for 2-3 weeks and use it almost daily. I wanted to spend some time with it before I announced my opinion. What if it was defective, or had some feature that annoyed me, or I didn't like it for whatever reason...I wanted to give it an honest rating. Honestly, I LOVE IT. I would give it five out of five stars (and no the Rowenta folks did not ask for my opinion or sponsor this post in any way!) That's right, I paid for my iron just like everyone else, but thought I would share a good thing. If you happen to be in the market for an iron, I would recommend this one...if you don't mind the auto shut off feature.

Hope it lasts longer than the last one I bought. The company was sold several years ago and the quality is not what it used to be.
ReplyDeleteI love my Rowenta. I'm on my second one, but the first one lasted 15 years! I only buy the ones made in Germany, so hopefully this one will last as long as my first one. Great review.
ReplyDeleteI actually chose this model because it was one of the ones made in Germany. I should have mentioned that! Thanks for bringing it up. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteThanks so much for your review. I'm slowly looking around for a new iron and they can be so costly that I'm going slow. My current iron, that I've had for a couple of years (Oliso), has leaked and spit from the get-go and it was quite expensive, so I don't want to make another mistake. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIf you shop online you can read the reviews, and I did read ALL the reviews. Good luck to you!
DeleteIt's good to have a great iron.:) Thanks for filling us in!
ReplyDeleteJust don't use water - they are notorious for leaking. I tried 2 new ones after my original one died a few years ago because I loved that old thing, but the other's were horrible. I will never buy a Rowenta again. But then again, I use steam a lot.
