I've been thinking...

I know, I know, that could be frightening, but seriously...having very limited access to the sewing room due to the basement flood (have I mentioned that enough yet?) has left me with lots more time to think. I was flipping through books of antique quilts, which is always inspiring to me, and I kept coming back to a couple of sampler quilts. I want to make a sampler quilt for my bed and I want it to be totally unique and filled with my favorite blocks. Lots of tiny blocks. I want it to be in a neutral color palette, but not too neutral...this is me we're talking about!

So I haven't fully formed this plan yet, but I think it might be fun to just start! Start making blocks and use fabrics I love. Fabrics that look old, but not boring. It will be a good chance to try some new techniques. I might make several of some blocks and only one of others. It will definitely have to have some tiny bits of cheddar. Because cheddar makes me happy!

Well, look at there, I've made a button...now I think I am committed! Do you want to sew along with me? I'll be happy to share my blocks and ideas, tips and inspiration. This could be fun!

And don't forget to go HERE and enter the giveaway! Time is running out...

Enjoy every stitch!

  1. I think what you're talking about is a random sampler quilt. Aren't they wonderful with all their quirky layouts? LOVE the quilt you found!

  2. Love the random blocks and scrappy look of the quilt. I'm not the sew-along kind of girl, but it's a great way to make new blog/quilt friends I think when you have a project in common to work on and a deadline for each part.
Going to follow the process and progress for sure! Very curious on how yours will turn out.... Great idea!
