2015 Calendar

I know, I know, I have just begun my reign as "Ms July" in the 2014 calendar and the 2015 calendar arrived in the mail. And guess what? Are you sitting down, because this is a doozy! I am "Ms November 2015" Crazy isn't it? It is really super exciting to see a quilt of mine in print no matter where it shows up. Perhaps I am just easily amused?

I saw a photo of an antique bed sized quilt that was very similar to this one. It had nine patches set on point, but the original had bow ties or some other kind of block. I honestly can't remember. I decided to make the small blocks four patches because of the scale I was using. I also chose to make a few of the four patches in a different color as if I had run out of fabric or those blocks had faded. I love that about old quilts. I also decided to curve the corners because I had never done that before and wanted to see if I could. It was super easy! I've done that again many times since, because it was so fun. The only trick to remember is that you MUST use bias binding. It will work, I promise.

I am so happy to have this quilt back home now so I can enjoy it again. It was gone more than a year! I will share ordering information for the calendar as soon as it is available. If you ordered the 2014 calendar you will receive it automatically.

Enjoy every month (but especially November!)
Diane
