That's right, I actually got around to making the mini for July. Woohoo! A few of you have given me some gentle reminders and I do appreciate that. I need all the help I can get. I hope you like this one.
I chose to use the 'Lightning Strikes Twice' pattern for my inspiration. Instead of making the pieces smaller, I just made the blocks smaller by using fewer pieces in each block. The finished blocks are only 5". Here's the pattern:
Lakeside Log Cabins
Finished size: 26 1/2"
Cutting directions (cut 16 of each):
blue fabric 1 1/2" square, 1 1/2" x 2 1/2", 1 1/2" x 3 1/2", 1 1/2" x 4 1/2", 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"
cream fabric 1 1/2" square, 1 1/2" x 2 1/2", 1 1/2" x 3 1/2", 1 1/2" x 4 1/2"
border fabric cut four 3 1/2" x 20 1/2", cut four 3 1/2" squares
Sewing Directions:
Sew the blue and cream squares together side by side.
Finger press open.
With the white square at the top, layer the 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" blue piece on top and sew together.
Finger press open.
Rotate 90* and sew the next 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" blue strip to the unit.
Finger press open.
Rotate 90* and sew the next 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" cream strip to the unit.
Finger press open.
Rotate 90* and sew the next 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" cream strip to the unit.
Finger press open.
Rotate 90* and sew the next 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" blue strip to the unit.
Finger press open.
Rotate 90* and sew the next 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" blue strip to the unit.
Finger press open.
Trim all blocks to 5 1/2" square. Sew four rows of four blocks together, according to the photo. Sew the rows together. Sew two borders to opposite sides of the block unit. Sew a corner to each end of the two remaining borders. Add these to the quilt. Layer with batting and backing. Quilt as desired. Bind.

Great fabrics for your little mini! It looks wonderful. I really should think about making some mini's for that quilt wall I want some day.:)
