Now that I've put the borders on this quilt...
I'll be ripping them off.
It looks better in person but it's just too chaotic. I should have listened to Barb! I do have another idea, and I will begin adding that one. This is not the first idea, and may not be the last. Sometimes, these things just need to take some wrong turns before they finally end up where they are supposed to be.
Just thought I would share a little bit of reality. I'm not too worried about it, this quilt will have a happy ending, I can feel it.
Also, I spent most of last night pin basting this donation quilt. It will be wonderful! I hope to get some time to quilt on it this weekend. The rainy weather is helping give me an excuse to stay in and quilt!
Enjoy every stitch!

Obviously, seeing a photograph is vastly different from what you see in person. I happen to like the chaos of the border & quilt combo, but to my mind's eye it would still need another "anchoring" border to control the chaos a little. You're right, sometimes you just have to play with the design elements until you find what feels right to you! Thanks for sharing the process, though. I am really sitting on my hands not to jump in and start my own version, so it's good to just enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteAfter leaving my comment, i thought - who cares what I think?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how you finish this great quilt.
really nice charity quilt!
I love the quilt, the border is a bit busy but think it works , i agree with Angie it needs a calming border next if you were to keep it. Of course now I can't wait to see what border you will replace it with.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is amazing and I have wanted to try and make one like this for a long time
thanks for sharing
