Another Tumbler quilt is finished!

I used five charm packs of the HERE BOY fabric that I picked up at my local quilt shop a few weeks ago. I fell in love with the cute fabric the minute I saw it and I knew that by using it in a tumbler quilt I would still be able to see the cute dogs and fun patterns without them getting chopped up too much.

After I cut the tumblers using my template, they are ready to sew. I don't pin these at all. I simply lay them right sides together and overlap a quarter inch at the top (see the red piece poking out)...

And this creates a quarter inch overlap at the bottom. Why using charm packs, it will generally mean two zigs on the zig zag edges.

By applying a gentle pressure with my hand the entire time the pieces are sewn, and keeping them secure all the way to the end of the seam, they turn out perfect every time! No pins needed. Keep in mind that these are both bias seams being sewn, so I am careful not to stretch them at all.

Using this method, I can chain piece them quickly.

Then I used a favorite backing fabric that I had wanted for quite a while, so it was finally on sale! Woohoo! I don't know how long exactly this quilt required but I did cut and sew it one day, quilt it the next, and put the binding on the third day. So it was pretty speedy.

Enjoy every stitch!
