November Nines

I've mentioned that I participated in the fun nine patch swap hosted by Barb. I have had them sitting in a basket on my work table and this weekend I finally put them up on the design wall and started playing with them. They are so pretty, but I've made a few nine patch quilts in the past (from other exchanges) and wanted to something a bit different this time.

I've set them in rows, for this quilt...Christmas CandyPDF quilt pattern, Christmas Candy, nine patch on point strip quilt

I've set them on point for this quilt...Cinco

PDF Quilt Pattern: Cinco

I've set them with alternate blocks for this quilt...Dreaming in Black and White

I've given away too many nine patch quilts to count. I really wanted to do something a bit different this time. I decided to group them according to color. Then I decided to sew them into four patches...

Then I decided to set them with alternating blocks of fabric...

Then I decided to add borders...

And now you might be thinking, that's a lot of empty space! I know, it's perfect for some applique! I'm so excited. I want to add lots of wool applique. I can't wait to see what happens. I'm flipping through some of my old books looking at vintage quilts in hopes of finding just the right type of applique. Don't worry, I'll be sure to share it as soon as I figure it out myself.

Enjoy every stitch!
Diane

  7. It's looking great so far. I haven't been able to sew since I got mine, so they haven't made it into anything resembling a quilt yet, although I do have a plan ....
