(Be Mine by Diane Knott 2002)
Not long ago I was contacted by someone who found me through a google search. She said that she had a quilt that was labeled with my name and asked if it me who had made the quilt? Yes, it was my quilt!!!
How my little quilt got to Pennsylvania is a mystery. This person said she aquired it there and has had it hanging in her home in New Jersey since then. I was thrilled that my little quilt had travelled so far and held up so well. It was one of the first quilts I made from a beginning applique class, so the skill level is not outstanding, but I remember those little hearts! Their wobbly edges and very curved points were my first efforts at needle turn applique. The scrappy nine patches were a sign of things to come, hahaha!
Now do you see why you should always label your quilts? I hope so!
Diane
How sweet! Nice to know your quilt is still being cherished and loved. And yes, it is very important that we label every quilted item that comes from our hands!!
ReplyDeleteToo Funny! So sweet she found you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat story. I need to make this a priority, to label all my quilts before the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it make you curious to know how it ended up there? It's so lovely that the person was able to contact you. It's a lovely quilt. I'm hopeless at labelling but always do if a quilt leaves the house for a gift or a show.
ReplyDeleteso did you donate it? how did it get out your hands? how nice that she loves it and found you!
