I was sent this adorable children's book about a little girl making her first quilt. The publisher asked if I would be willing to review it and host a give away on my blog. The story is sweet and would be good for both reading to a child or for beginning readers.
This short summary explains that Maya wants to help welcome her new brother and decides to make him a quilt. Grandma to the rescue! Grandma spends time teaching Maya how to quilt and the story parallels the activities of the birds outside Maya's window and the preparation of their nest for their family.
There's even a wonderful section in the back on how to make a simple quilt and the supplies needed. I especially love that Maya made some very creative choices in her quilt!
Thanks for playing along. I'll announce the winner on Friday!
This looks like a very beautiful, thoughtfully-written book. If I won it, I wouldn't give it to any of my grandchildren (of which there are many). I would keep it at my house and read it to them when they come over (which is often, as they live a couple of minutes away by foot). I could have as many as 8 grand-kids on the couch with me while I read to them. They love it, and so do I!ReplyDelete
I'd give it to Bradley, for an aunt/nephew adventure!ReplyDelete
This book would end up in my second grade classroom...which would inspire us to create a classroom quilt for sure!!!ReplyDelete
I would save the book for my first grandchild who will be born in November! Thanks for the giveaway!ReplyDelete
