I'm still working on the quiltalong over HERE using the Midnight at the Oasis pattern from Jen Kingwell. I adore the quilt and am having fun going brighter and wilder than I usually do. I find the cheerful colors are good to spend time with when the weather offers nothing but endless rain.
The applique is slower but very enjoyable. I love needle turn and can happily pick it up any time of the day when I have a few moments to stitch. I use the freezer paper on the back side of the fabric so that it provides an edge for me to fold the seam allowance under. Once I am almost finished stitching, I finger press the remainder to create a crease in the fabric. I remove the paper, then take the final stitches using the crease as my guide.
These are tiny pieces. Lots tinier than they look.
The good news is that it doesn't take long to stitch one down because they are so small. The bad news is, they are so small that it can be tricky.
I choose not to stress over perfection. You probably already noticed that from the photos! LOL
Now I just need to figure out how to put these all together and onto the center section. That might be a bit trickier...

DeleteFabulous job so far. I'm skipping this border for the moment and am almost finished with ALL the little churn dash blocks - woot, woot!! I also love the way the gray dots looks.
ReplyDeleteKaren, great minds must think alike! I did work on my churn dashes too while I stewed over this border. I enjoyed making them even though they are tiny. I am waiting to share them so I can have the progress revealed in order. (It's a personal issue!) LOL
