Pumpkin UFO completed!

I appliqued these pumpkins to this batik background several years ago. I just sketched them by hand and then hand stitched them with a whip stitch around the edges with matching thread.

I had also made all of these half square triangles about the same time. I had them and the pumpkins in a corner and 'kept meaning to get to it' so the other day I decided to just do it! It took only a couple of hours to stitch the pieces together, layer, baste and quilt. I quilted in the ditch for the patchwork and free motion quilted the pumpkins to have vines and leaves in the background as well as adding texture to the pumpkins.

It's now hanging in my front hall. I love that it can stay up until Thanksgiving because the pumpkins are necessarily just for Halloween. It goes nicely with the pretty little quilt on the table given to me by my friend Mary Ruth. It's good to have friends like Mary Ruth!

And this is the pretty tree in my backyard that is losing it's leaves quickly because of all of the rain we are having. We might see the sun one day, but I'm not holding my breath!

Enjoy!
Diane
