Nearly Insane again....

Sometimes I just want to sew. I don't want to design or do anything that really requires much mental energy. Do you ever feel that way? Maybe it's just me, but I like to sew as relaxation on occasion. So I picked up my bin of Nearly Insane blocks and decided to work on them. I know what you're thinking...are you CRAZY? Probably. But I like that I can just follow the pattern and slowly make one block after another. I only have 3-4 colors to choose from so things can't get too complicated.

Okay, so these blocks are only 6'' finished. Some of them are much more complicated than others. But I do like sewing them. I'm not in any hurry to finish. I'm only a third of the way through them and I've been working on them for years. I'm okay with that. It's a project that requires a certain mind set. No point to forcing it.

Those little red and green half square triangles are 1/2''. So they were kind of fussy. I am glad I don't have to make them very often. But most of these weren't so bad...

I did paper piece a few sections of the tiny flying geese. But for the most part, I just make the unit and then trim it down to size. I've put these away again, but next time I'm feeling a little crazy (or Nearly Insane) I 'll pull them out again.

If you've made this quilt, I would love any tips or advice you might have. Thanks so much!

Enjoy every stitch!

  4. I totally agree about having time just to sew and enjoy the process. Your Nearly Insane blocks are very cute and I can see where it would be nice to work on them when you've got the "right" mindset. But, for me, that small size would make me insane!
