Hello 2016

I don't know about you but I've got so much to look forward to in the coming year! There will be travel for teaching and travel for book signing and travel for fun! There will be fabric to play with and family events to celebrate. I hope to throw in a few surprises and adventures along the way as well.

I am still in 'holiday hangover' mode. I had nine people here for 8 days to entertain, feed, drive, clean up after and visit with for the holidays. They last of the visitors left on the 2nd and I'm still knee deep in laundry, changing bedding, cleaning up and trying to decide when all of the Christmas stuff will get stored away again until next  year.

We had a huge New Year's Celebration with family and 17 of our closest teenage friends. We ate lots of good food, played fun games and shot of tons of fireworks! I think my kids are still sleeping off that celebration.

The house seems so quiet today as I type this. I miss the laughter and chatter and the general mayhem that all those giggling kids and talkative adults bring to the household. I will admit that I'm ready to settle into a bit of a routine and get this year going. I have been thinking about some goals for the new year. I'm not a huge 'resolutions' kind of person, but I do like to have a few goals to help keep me focused.

I've joined Cathy Zielske for this fun year long fitness adventure. I truly love her humor and personality. Even if I don't reach my fitness goals, I know I'll have fun trying!

I've also finished up the 12 free scrappy blocks at Craftsy. I'll be offering a setting and quilt pattern to go with them soon. I've enjoyed this journey and look forward to seeing the final results!

Find Audrey here.

I am still thinking about joining Audrey for this fun sew along. I want to add a twist, just not sure how yet. But I'm pretty sure this is going to happen. It's too fun not to jump in.

And I want to come up with a reading list for this year. I have so many books that I want to read, I need to decide which ones should be first. I'm still taking suggestions if you've read anything good lately.

Here's to lots more of what we love in 2016!

Diane

  1. Those fun family gatherings! Don't know what we'd do without them.:) Can't wait to see what you come up with for the circles. I'm sure it'll be good! So many different ideas, I have to stop myself from starting a second one. I don't know if you read chick lit, but I've been reading Jill Mansell lately. So amusing!

  3. The new year used to be a bit of a let down for me too. We celebrated the holidays quietly this year and am ready to roll!
The Boys in the Boat is starting out great, although I haven't completed it yet. Once you make you list I'd love to see a blog post on them!!

  4. Hi Diane,
Happy New Year! I'm looking forward to this year too. In these days after the celebrations, I too am thinking about getting the house tidy, but also spending time with my kids. I was lucky enough to receive several books as gifts, so will let you know if I think any are unmissable. Looking forward to your recommendations!

  7. I am catching up on blog reading so this is a bit late. I am taking Cathy's class too. I have been playing with some page ideas this weekend.
I recommend Man Called Ove. It was a great read.
