Quilt Retreat Review

It's a tradition to go on a quilting retreat for a long weekend every January with my local quilt guild. I have been attending this retreat since I was expecting my first child and she's now 18. So that's a pretty long time! I did miss the year I gave birth to the twins, but other than that, I've had a perfect attendance record.

This year's theme was Mardi Gras. And you guessed it...we were invaded by hundreds of tiny crawfish wearing carnival masks. You may remember the ducks from two years ago. There's always a surprise or two, and definitely lots of laughs!

(this photo of my backyard was texted to me)

January is the perfect time of year to get away and stitch our little fingers off. When it's this cold, how else could you better spend your time? This year an epic snow fall was predicted, and we did see a few flakes. And while much of the country is still digging out, we are already back to temps in the 40's.

I packed plenty of strips to keep me busy. They did. I made a lot of these blocks...

And quite a few of these as well...

Reports from home said that a certain dog really missed me. He's such a momma's boy! I will admit I missed him a bit too.

But mostly I was so busy sewing and chatting and eating and sleeping and sewing...you get the idea.

Enjoy every stitch,
Diane

  5. I missed my pooches whilst i was at retreat last weekend too. But it's always worthwhile you get so much done in a focused environment like quilt retreat that immerses you wholeheartedly in your passion :-) it was a beautiful sunny weekend here in Denver though not great timing to be indoors so much lol

  11. I'm so jealous. There are no guilds in my area. So sad for me.
