Summer Reading List

Every summer I like to make a reading list. I usually read all of the books, and sometimes I read different ones, but if you know me at all, you know I love lists! Lists help me stay organized and on track. Again, those of you that know me, know how easily distracted I am, so lists are actually necessary! Haha.

So here goes...

1. The Nightingale
I've enjoyed everything I've read by Kristin Hannah and the fact that this takes place in France and is historical fiction means this will be a favorite for sure. I can't believe I haven't read it yet!

2. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
I've had this book for a while and I know I will like it if I just make the time to read it. No doubt I'll be glad I did!

3. God's Hotel: A Doctor, a Hospital, and a Pilgrimage to the Heart of Medicine
This is on my daughter's summer reading list. I read the first chapter and I'm hooked. I can't wait to start meeting the characters.

4. The Guest Room: A Novel
My book club read this last month and I didn't. So I need to catch up and they said they liked it. Another author I like very much so I'm very curious about this one.

5. And Then All Hell Broke Loose: Two Decades in the Middle East
A friend recommended this and I think it will be interesting to hear someone's version who was there and saw things first hand.

6. Career of Evil (A Cormoran Strike Novel)
I read the first two novels and loved them. Cormoran Strike is a guy you can't help but cheer for. I am curious to see how this one wraps up the series.

For more information, or to purchase any of these books, just click underlined title of the book. It will take you to Amazon where you can choose paper or download version and read reviews.

What are you going to read this summer? I would love any recommendations you can share!
Happy reading!
Diane

  1. I read the Nightingale. There was one point where I thought about putting it down- story didn't seem to be going anywhere and it was just depressing. I persevered and was glad I did. It was wonderful and very memorable. Enjoy!

And another one : the truth about Harry Quebert's affair ? In America, a crime novel ! Both are amazing !

  5. I read the first two. When I finished The Nightingale I couldn't even think about picking up another book to read. It was so fabulous I was sure no book would measure up to it. I reviewed Big Magic a month or two ago. (At http://joyforgrace.blogspot.com/2016/03/about-book-big-magic.html.) This is the one I kept wanting to put down, the giving it another page or two. I finished it and came away with some good ideas but I wouldn't way it was fabulous. I'll look into the others on your list.
