Monday Medallion Step 8

Welcome to step 8 of the Medallion Sew Along for my new book Scrap Quilt Secrets! All of the patterns and pieces for this quilt can be found in the book. Detailed instructions on cutting, pressing and sewing along with diagrams and step by step instructions are all found in the book. This sew along will direct you to the page and item in the book for those instructions. If you need a copy of the book, you can order it here.

Step 7

Make 4 borders of the Crazy Daisy quilt found on page 32.
Cut the border background pieces 54" long (measure your quilt top and cut the borders accordingly.)
Sew two borders to opposite sides of the quilt top.
Make 4 pinwheel blocks using the units on page 31.
Sew the pinwheel blocks to the ends of the two remaining borders.
Sew these borders to the remaining twos sides of the quilt top.
Press the seams toward the borders.

Step 8

Make 96 four patch units found on page 15.
Special instructions for pressing can be found on page 94.
Sew 2 rows of 23 blocks and sew them to opposite sides of the quilt.
Sew 2 rows of 25 blocks and sew them to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Press the seams toward the applique border.

For these four patches, I chose red as one color and a blue and green combo for the other color. I wanted to use up the scraps I had on hand and I wanted to give the flowers a colorful 'ground' to grow from. I know this is a lot of little four patches, but I promise it's worth the effort.

Only one more step until we complete this medallion quilt! I am having so much fun sewing these elements from different quilts all together and I hope you are too. Stay tuned for the big finish next week!

Enjoy every stitch,
Diane
