I had the pleasure of attending a trunk show by the very talented Betsy Chutchian. I've been collecting her books over the years, and I am a fan of her lovely fabrics, but this was such a treat.
She based two of her recent books Lizzy's Legacy and Gone to Texas on the journal entries of her great great grandmother. Many of the stories and notes are included in the books (always a favorite of mine!) The personal connections and glimpses into the lives of quilters from long ago make their quilts even more interesting in my opinion!
Betsy did a wonderful job of making us feel as though we knew Lizzy and helped us appreciate what her life might have been like on a daily basis during the difficult years of the civil war in a remote area of Texas. Turns out, quilters have always had things in common far beyond the stitches we sew into cloth!
I came home with a few fabric treasures since I already owned her books! These are going to be so fun to play with!
You can learn more about Betsy on her blog. Her most recent book is Treasury of Quilts and I am really enjoying it! If she is ever speaking in your area, I would highly encourage you to attend! Thanks for a wonderful evening Betsy!
Enjoy every stitch!
Diane
