August Reading List

Please read this book right now! I loved Arthur so much. He was such a little old man trying to cope with life after his wife's death when he discovered a charm bracelet of her's that he had never noticed before. Then the wonderful journey begins...I laughed until I cried at his perceptions of the situations he found himself in. This may be my favorite book this year. If  you like Britt Marie was Here, you'll like this book even better!

The Nest

I enjoyed this book. While it was bordering on annoying at times due to some of the characters incredibly bad planning and lack of self responsibility, I am glad I stuck with it. The second half of the book was more interesting and I found myself cheering on the siblings as they finally began to mature. There are some good twists and some really funny situations along the way as well. Not my favorite book this month, but worth the read.

Tapestry of Fortunes

Such a great summer read! The story of a career driven woman who loses her best friend to cancer and decides to make some major life changes. It was fun getting to know new people she encountered and it left me wanting a bit more, so I think that's a good thing. It was an enjoyable and fairly quick read.

China Dolls

I love everything by Lisa See and this book didn't disappoint. The characters were captivating and it was interesting to learn about life for Asian Americans during the second world war. The story of these three women and their families and lives kept me wanting to get back to this book and wondering what would come next. If you like this author, don't miss this book!

BEARTOWN

Listening to this one as I road trip this week to bring my last child to college. I hope this will make me laugh as much as the other books by this author did. Fingers crossed!

Thanks again for leaving more book recommendations in the comments. Some of the books that have been suggested are on my request list at the library right now. I always appreciate help with finding new books!

Enjoy,
Diane
