Scrappy Summer Star Sew Along Step 4

Welcome to Step 4 of the Sew Along!

I know you feel like you've made a million nine patches and you almost have. Congratulations!! Some of you have suggested that we have a 'catch up' week, but I decided that since this step is easier, it will help those of you who need the extra time.

If you are just now joining us, here are the other steps for you to see how we've gotten this far:

As promised, we are keeping it easy this week! We are assembling nine patches from the nine patches to create our big center star! This will go together in a snap and you will be surprised how quickly it 'grows'!

Using 9 of the background nine patches, sew them together into a nine patch.

Make 4

Using 3 background nine patches, 3 star nine patches and 3 triangle nine patches as shown above, sew them into a nine patch.

Sew these large nine patches into four rows of four as shown above. And then do a happy dance! You have finished the large star for the quilt and all we have left is borders! I'll be sharing a few options for borders, and I'm still not sure which option I'm going to use.

I hope you are having fun and still sewing along. Thanks for sharing the photos with me, check my Instagram account to see where I've shared them. Also, feel free to link up below to the linky party. I'm having so much fun following your progress!

Enjoy every stitch!

  2. Clever use of the Split 9-Patch blocks for the center - I hadn't figured that out until you demonstrated it!
