We enjoyed quite the winter snow storm here last week! While we normally get a light dusting of snow once or twice a year, it usually melts within 24 hours. This time we got a whopping 9'' of snow that lasted several days!!
Don't laugh, it was a big deal around here. The kids had a great time playing in the snow. It started snowing around noon on Friday and my hubby had this waiting for me in the front yard by the time I got home from work about 2:30 pm.
The flakes were big and fat and wet! They were the perfect sticky consistency for snowballs.
I love how quiet the snow makes everything outside. The dogs were not phased by the snow too much though Boomer was very concerned about the new guy in the front yard. He didn't get too close to the snowman. And he was so confused that every snowball he chased disappeared when it landed! LOL
You can see how high the snow piled up on the railings and the roof still has a few spots of snow in the shady places.
We only lost one tree to the storm, but sadly it was the magnolia tree we planted when we moved in. We had been amazed at how the tree had quadrupled in size over a decade. It is sad to look out and see the bare spot where Maggie had lived. Maybe we will plant another in the spring.
The snow was so much fun I sure hope we see some more this year!
Your home is beautiful. Being from Rochester NY I miss scenes like this (sort of). Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHere in Hall Cty, GA, just a few miles from you, we only got a little under 2"
ReplyDeleteBeing from New York and New Jersey, we're used to lots of snow, I was hoping for a real blizzard but it all disappeared in less than an day.
Happy Holidays
I love it when it snows....and yours certainly left a beautiful sight. So glad you enjoyed it. Happy happy holidays!

Happy Christmas with your family !

Beautiful indeed! We were sitting in the airport in Tampa feeling sorry for all those people who were re-routed. Ours was the only flight that left on schedule. There are many advantages to being from Maine! I love snow and forget that so much of our country rarely sees it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
