Book Reviews

I always love to share a good thing when I find it and these two books arrived at the quilt shop this week. I can't wait to really put them to use in my quilting room. Both books are published by C&T.

The ALL OVER PATTERNS book is just that. It's a collection of designs from some amazing quilters that will inspire you to try these fun ideas. I like to practice on paper with pencil to get the 'muscle memory' before trying them on the machine. Each double page will give you the up close detail and the (see upper right corner) overall design effect.

The variety of patterns will ensure that you will no doubt find something you must try. I know I've got this book filled with sticky notes already!

The RULERWORK QUILTING BOOK covers some great basic information about getting started with rulers and it includes tons of tips on getting great results.

It also includes entire sections on several different types of rulers. This means you get a lots of mileage out of each ruler you use. Who doesn't love getting multiple uses from one tool? You can create so many designs from one ruler. I love that!

And the best part (in my opinion) is the complete index of designs, so you can find what you are looking for and quickly flip to the page that has the step by step instructions, options, and tips for that design.

I don't know about you, but these two books are going to get a lot of use and will be often referenced in my quilt book library.

*The fine print: I did NOT receive any compensation for these reviews, I just like to share a good thing when I find it. I hope you find them as helpful and inspiring as I did!
