Step 3 consists of 36 blocks that are 3'' and another round of sashing strips.
Cutting Instructions
Background Fabric- Cut 4 triangles from 3 1/2'' strips as shown
OR cut 2 squares 4 1/4'' then cut them on the diagonal once
Cut 144 triangles from 2'' strips as shown
OR cut 72 squares 2 3/4'' then cut them on the diagonal once
Large triangles- Cut 32 triangles from 3 1/2''strips as shown
OR cut 16 squares 4 1/4'' then cut them on the diagonal once
Small triangles- Cut 36 triangles from 2'' strips as shown
OR cut 18 squares 2 3/4'' then cut them on the diagonal once
Sashing- Cut 2 strips 3'' x 30 1/2''
Cut 2 strips 3'' x 35 1/2''
Sewing the Blocks
Make 32.

Following the same steps as above, sew four blocks with large triangles cut from the background fabric for the corner blocks.
Arrange the blocks as shown and sew them into four rows of 8 blocks each.
The corner blocks are turned the opposite direction from the rest of the blocks.
Sew a corner block onto each end of two of the rows. Press the seams open.
Sew the rows of 8 blocks to opposite sides of the quilt, then sew the rows with the corner blocks.
Press the seams toward the sashing strips. The unit will be 30 1/2'' square.
Sew the 3'' x 30 1/2'' sashing strips to opposite sides of the quilt. Press toward the sashing.
Sew the 3'' x 35 1/2'' sashing strips to opposite sides of the quilt. Press toward the sashing.
The quilt will now be 35 1/2'' square. Trim if needed.
