Remembering Gwen Marston...
While I never had the privilege of meeting Gwen in person, I've been an admirer of hers for a long time. I don't know when I first heard about Gwen, but I instantly fell in love with her collaborative work with Freddy Moran.
And I do remember a fun quilt along that many folks were involved in back in 2012 that I posted about here. I went on to finish that quilt top and it sat in a bin for several years until I got my new longarm.
It was the first quilt on which I decided to attempt free motion quilting and 'ruler work' using my longarm. I'm sad to say that I still haven't finished it, but I sure have enjoyed so many things I've learned while working on it. I even posted a little 10 minute tip back in 2013, about this basket method inspired by Gwen.
Gwen left a legacy of work and friendship and kindness that we will certainly enjoy for many years to come. Now I think I'll go spend some time visiting with Gwen's quilts and I have no doubt I will feel inspired all over again.
Hugs,
Diane

I only have one of Gwen's books but I, too, got the book out and enjoyed every quilt again. She will be sadly missed.
