This is a Book of the Month Club selection that got rave reviews and had me curious so when I saw it at the library, I snapped it up! It is based on a real story and is heart-breakingly beautiful and sad and I'm so very glad I read it. It really is astonishing to me the different lives that are led by different cultures here in our own country today (not to mention around the world!) The writing is wonderful and the characters were so well depicted that I felt like I was in the room with them. I would highly recommend this book, it was one of my favorites this year.
This was another Book of the Month Club pick that I had heard so much about. I was very interested in it because the subject matter involved the 'underground railroad' which is a topic I find fascinating. I listened to this book on CD from the library and it was so well narrated. I enjoyed the book so much and it will stay with me for a very long time. I did feel a bit ambivalent about the 'magic' in the book but the characters and their stories were so profound. It was based on some letters and documents found, so in that respect, it's based in reality. It was a truly beautiful book that was one of my favorites this year as well. I would highly recommend it if you want to get lost in a book for a while.
So that's it for 2019 reading lists! I have read 54 books this year (including the ones I listen to on CD in the car and while I quilt.) I loved a lot of the book this year, and only found a few disappointing. Would anyone be interested in a top 10 list? I could probably come up with one fairly quickly if that is of interest.
As always, I love to hear your recommendations and I add them to my list of 'requests' at the library. I also find lots of books through the Book of the Month Club. I always order at least one and often an add on. My shelf is full and books are piling up around here though. I need to read faster or go to the library less often!

The book links in all of the posts this year are affiliate links. Which means I make a few cents off each click or purchase. I greatly appreciate your support and thanks to you, I've earned a free book or two each month this year. My reviews are always honest and I try to only recommend the ones I would be happy to purchase. So from the bottom of my book loving heart, thank you for your support!
Here's to lots more reading in 2020!
