Due to the unusual circumstances we all find ourselves in, I asked if you would like to get the last steps sooner than scheduled. You resoundingly said YES. So here is April's step 2 weeks early. I'll also share the last step very soon for those that are ready. Please stay safe and well and don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything at all. Scroll down to the last post for the special offer (gift with purchase) that is currently running in the shop.
Step 8
18'' x 27'' Panel
Each panel will have the following:
5 blocks 6 ½’’ x 6 ½’’
1 block 12 ½’’ x 12 ½’’
1 filler strip 3 ½’’ x 12 ½’’
1 row 6 ½’’ x 21 ½’’
Sort the blocks so that there are no duplicates in any panel.
Take care to have a variety of fabrics in each panel.
Arrange the blocks according to one of the diagrams above.
Each panel will be sewn into a different layout 'option'.
Sew two 6
½’’ blocks together. Press the seams to one side.
Sew another
two 6’’ blocks together. Press the seams to one side.
Sew the two
block units to each side of the 3 ½’’ x 12 ½’’ filler strip.
Press the seams toward the
filler strip.
Sew this
unit to one side of the 12 ½’’ star block. Press the seams to one side.
Sew the block/row unit to the top or bottom of the star/blocks/strip unit.
Press the seams open or to one side.
The panel
should now measure 18 ½’’ x 27 ½’’.
Repeat as
needed, changing the block arrangement as desired.
Options:
Set the 12
½’’ star block in the upper left corner or the upper right corner.
Add the
block row (flying geese) to the top or bottom of the unit.
Move
the filler strip to the side of the large star and sew the 6 ½’’ blocks into a
four patch.
Study the
diagrams to see the variations for placement.
Be creative
and have fun!
