I love everything by this author. She does so much research and has a way of writing fiction into context that is so believable and realistic. She's also just a really cool person too! Here is an amazing interview about this book.
This book is the life of the 'would be' wife of Jesus if he had one. It takes place during the years of the Jesus' life that are not recorded in the Bible. This book is NOT about Jesus. It's about a woman, and how women's lives were shaped during that time. There is a cast of family and friends that are so relatable and heartfelt that span centuries with ease. I was captivated by the story, the setting, the relationships, and the lives of these characters. PLEASE read this book!

Another favorite author who writes books that defy one style or type. I fell in love with his writing in The Midwives, and then lost my heart to Skeletons at the Feast, and enjoyed the suspense of the The Flight Attendant. This book is mystery, adventure, suspense, and I'm only half way through it. I can already tell I'm going to love it though. Read more about the author HERE.
Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the amazing response to the quilt sale and my longarm customers who have kept me very busy of late. I appreciate the kind support more than you know!
As always, feel free to share what you're reading in the comments.
Take care,
Diane
Book of Longings is my next read. It has stirred some controversy and I want to read it before I hear too much of the negative chat. So happy to hear you loved it.
ReplyDeleteI just reread The Secret Life of Bees for our book group....that cannot meet yet! August and her sisters are some of my favorite characters ever. I just finished my first book by Tana French.....Faithful Place. She is a terrific writer. I now have checked out In The Wood, her first book. I will see if it is as gripping as the one I just finished. It received the Edgar Award.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the book reviews. I have just managed to order a couple of audio books by Chris Bohjalian, free from my local library.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your review of these books...I want to read BOTH of them but have been waiting for the libraries to reopen. I think I'll just buy them!
