August 2020 Reading List

The story of two Dominican girls, one raised in Santo Domingo and one in New York City is so well told. I personally related to the story because the pivotal event is the crash of the AA flight from NYC to Santo Domingo. Many years ago, I was a flight attendant for AA and that was one of my regular flights for a while. I love the island and the people and their beautiful culture. This story transported me to those old familiar places. But it's also a story of family and love and loss and strength and resilience in the face of so many different obstacles that life throws at each of us. Even if you have never been to New York or Santo Domingo, you will love this book. I highly recommend it.

I love historical fiction and honestly, I bought this book because of the cover. It's just so pretty. It was also on the awesome sale Target had back during the holidays, so it rounded out the number of books I needed to take best advantage of the sale. I know I'm not the only one who does that!?! Right?
