What a fun journey this has been and I've sew enjoyed seeing your quilts and progress on social media and in person! If you have been making a smaller version of the quilt, you can simply sew your patchwork strips and sashings together as shown in the diagram size of your choice! And you are ready to quilt your quilt, woo hoo!
I want to share that I made a few variations to my king size version. You will remember that I left a wide sashing strip for potential applique or a large scale print. I decided to add one more row of 3 1/2" squares to each side of the quilt, with 3 1/2' sashings on either side. I chose to do this for a couple of reasons. I knew I would need a second background fabric before I started because the one I had was not enough yardage (those of you that know me will NOT be surprised! LOL) So when I added in the check fabric as the second background, I loved it but didn't want it to take over the quilt. So I decided to add more of the scrappy colors. I had some 3 1/2'' strips leftover, so I just chopped them into squares. I also extended my piano key border to 6" wide to add a bit of width to the quilt. I just got a new mattress and it is crazy thick, so I want to be sure my quilt covers all the way to the bed skirt.
I would highly encourage you to make any adjustments that make your quilt work best for you. I am always thrilled with folks take something I shared, and twist it into something unique for their very own. Isn't that the best thing about quilting anyway? Besides the fabric, the friends, the joy and the therapy of course. LOL
My quilt top is pieced but not yet quilted. I hope to share a finished photo very soon!
