These two rows are triangles made from 3 ½’’ strips and 6 ½’’ strips. I used background and assorted prints. I also introduced a second background print because I don't have enough of the first I chose. I knew I would need to use additional background fabrics and I'm happy with the addition of the grey check fabric. You can use all assorted prints or just two fabrics or just two colors. Both rows are the same size.
Use the same cutting and sewing for triangles from STEP 1.
Cutting
Throw-
Cut 6 strips 3 1/2’’ x 18’’ from the background , cut strips into 48 squares 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Cut 15 strips 3 1/2’’ x 18’’ from the background , cut strips into 120 triangles
Cut 12 strips 6 1/2" x 9" from the colors, cut 2 triangles from each strip
Cut 9 strips 3 1/2'' x 18'' from the colors, cut strips into 72 triangles
All Other Sizes-
Cut 8 strips 3 1/2’’ x 18’’ from the background , cut strips into 64 squares 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Cut 20 strips 3 1/2’’ x 18’’ from the background , cut strips into 120 triangles
Cut 16 strips 6 1/2" x 9" from the colors, cut 2 triangles from each strip
Cut 12 strips 3 1/2'' x 18'' from the colors, cut strips into 96 triangles
Sewing
Sew the 3 1/2" background triangles to the 3 1/2" color triangles to make 10 HST for each block.
Throw- make 120 half square triangles, press to the darker side.
All other sizes- make 160 half square triangles, press to the darker side.
Sew the remaining background triangles to both sides of the color fabric on the HST.
Throw- make 24
All other sizes- make 32
Sew this unit to the 6 1/2'' color triangles. Press toward the large triangle.
Throw- make 24
All other sizes- make 32
Sew the four patches from the remaining HST and the background squares.
Pinwheel press the seams.
Arrange the four patches and the triangle units as shown in the block. Sew these together four patch style. Pinwheel press the seams.
Throw- make 12
All other sizes- make 16
Arrange the blocks as shown in the diagram and sew them into two rows. Press the seams.
Throw- make 2 rows of 6
All other sizes- make 2 rows of 8
